Obituary

Alene Adkins Hamilton was born on January 4, 1924 to William and Florence Adkins. She was born in Brown County Ohio but moved to Kentucky at an early age. Her father was a tinsmith and played a fiddle around town for different events.  He mom was a homemaker and made the best yeast rolls in town. Alene was a devout Christian and truly loved the Lord. She was a devoted wife and mother. She married Leonard Hamilton and together they had seven children. Doug, who preceded her in death, leaving his wife Diana; Juanita (Bobby) Staggs, Maysville, KY; Carol Bothman, Dover, KY; Pat Wills, Dover, KY; Rocky(Kim) Augusta, KY; Charla(Rodney) McElfresh, Dover, KY; Linda Hamilton died in childhood. Two son in laws, Chuck Bothman and Tom Wills preceded in death. Leonard was her soul mate and love of her life. When they married they lived with his mom and dad, Alex and Nola Hamilton. They made a big happy family.  She spent her life working and raising her children. She cooked some big tasty meals and the best biscuits in town. She sewed and made clothes for her girls and loved working in her flowers.  Many people complemented her on her flowers. They were pretty. They moved to Dover in 1974, soon the neighbors loved them. Their home was filled with love. A little girl from across the street came to play and soon became part of the family. Ann Florer was a regular at the house and came to eat breakfast every morning before school. Mom thought of her as one of her own. She said Annie is one of my girls. Holidays were filled with love and laughter. When her love went to be with Jesus, her faith in the Lord never waivered. Her heart was broken but she never lost her love for Jesus.  She had a special friend in Violet Whiteman. They were close for many years. She loved her children and grandchildren. She had a total of 134. There was 22 grand and 48 great grand and 48 great great grand and 11 great great great grandchildren.  She loved for her kids to gather around and sing gospel songs. She also leaves behind two special sister in laws, Elsie Hamilton and Bonnie Dugan. Alene had five brothers who have passed on, James Adkins, Junior Adkins, William Adkins, Raymond Adkins and Joseph Adkins.  Charles Adkins lives in Cincinnati, OH.  She had nine grandkids pass away, Derick James Staggs, RV Bryant Staggs, Jacob James Perraut, Peyton Dawn Hopkins, Jennifer Wills, and Jessica Harding. Alene and Leonard together six generations and 188 in a grand total of the circle of life. Funeral services for Alene Hamilton will be held at the Knox and Brothers Funeral Home at 11:00 AM Saturday, May 4, 2019 with Bro. Arthur Whiteman officiating. Burial will follow in the Maysville Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday, May 3, 2019 from 5 to 8 PM. Condolences at knoxbrothersfuneralhome.com
