Obituary

Allen Lewis Silvey, 77, of Lexington, Kentucky, passed away
peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Monday,
December 23, 2024. Born on June 29, 1947 in Maysville, KY, Allen
was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend who was a
positive light to everyone who knew him.
Allen graduated from Mason County High School in 1965 and then
received his degree in agriculture from Morehead State University in
1970. He spent 34 dedicated years with Dayton Power and Light
where he built lasting relationships and a reputation as a
hardworking and dependable colleague. After retirement, he
cherished the time he spent with family. He loved nature and being
outdoors. He loved sports, especially UK basketball and the
Cincinnati Bengals, and rarely missed a game. Allen's legacy is one
of kindness, devotion, love for his family, and an unwavering
appreciation for life's simple joys.
Allen was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver and Bertie
Silvey, as well as his brother, Bob Silvey. He is survived by his wife
of 53 years, Diane Bramel Silvey; his three children, Dr. Allen Silvey
Jr. (Carolyn) of Deptford, NJ, Dr. Brian Silvey of Columbia, MO, and
Carrie Silvey Watson (Adam Roberts) of Lexington, KY; five special
grandchildren: Cole, Jeb, Owen, Brynn, and Charlie, and three
siblings, Jeff Silvey (Cheryl), Kevin Silvey, and Karen Silvey (Randy
Anderson).
Funeral services for Allen Silvey will be held at the Knox and
Brothers Funeral Home on Sunday, December 29, with a visitation
from 12:00 to 2:00 PM. Burial will follow in the Hillcrest Garden of
Memories where he will be laid beside his loving parents.
Pallbearers will be Ray Reed, Larry Buchanan, Jerry Fleming, and
Cole, Jeb, and Owen Silvey.
Allen had such perseverance after being diagnosed with ALS earlier
this year. He never complained and exhibited such a positive
attitude that was such a testament to his character. In lieu of
flowers, donations can be made to help ALS research or those living
with ALS such as the ALS Association or Team Gleason
