Obituary

Maysville - Walter Clark Shoemaker, age 67, passed away on December 17, 2025. He was born on March 25, 1958, and lived a life rooted in faith, family, and hard work.

Clark was married to his beloved wife, Vanessa Shoemaker, in January of 1989. Together they built a life centered on love, commitment, and service to others. He was a devoted father to his daughter, Kimberly Shoemaker Smalley, and son-in-law, Brad Smalley. Clark was a proud grandfather to Kendra Shoemaker and Jameson Smalley, who truly were the light of his life.

A man of deep faith, Clark loved the Lord and was a faithful member of Hickory Grove Church for over 40 years. His faith guided him through life's greatest joys and its deepest sorrows.

Clark dedicated 33 years of service to Emerson, where he was known for his strong work ethic and dependability. He valued hard work and believed in showing up and doing things the right way.

He was preceded in death by his children, Jason Shoemaker and Cassidy Shoemaker; Kathy; his parents; brothers Benny, Steve, and Johnny; and sisters Annie and Patty.

He is survived by his wife, Vanessa Shoemaker; daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Brad Smalley; grandchildren Kendra Shoemaker and Jameson Smalley; brothers and sisters Carrie, Wes, Betty Carol, David, Marlin, Suzie, Sandy, James, and Clifford; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and a large church family who loved him dearly.

Clark will be remembered for his unwavering faith, his devotion to family, and the quiet strength with which he carried life's burdens. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the love he shared.

Funeral services for Clark Shoemaker will be held at the Hickory Grove Church at 11:00 AM Monday, December 22, 2025 with Pastor David Hickerson officiating. Burial will follow in the Hillcrest Garden of Memories. Pallbearers will be Ben Shoemaker, Brad Smalley, Brad Williamson, Clifford Pollitt, Riley Roberson and Marlin Shoemaker.

Visitation will be held at the church on Sunday, December 21, 2025 from 5 to 8 PM. Memorials may be made to the Hickory Grove Church, 5166 West Kentucky 10, Tollesboro, KY 41189.
