Mr. D. Leroy Wallingford, 84, died on Tuesday, August 27 th , 2019 at Meadowview Regional Hospital.
Leroy was born in Maysville, Kentucky, on May 30 th in 1935 to Bruce and Edith Wallingford at Hayswood Hospital.
Leroy retired from Browning Manufacturing after working for the company for 45 years. He belonged to Seddon United Methodist Church and was a member of DeKalb Lodge.
Leroy was a veteran of U.S. Army Reserves and a Kentucky Colonel. He was an avid UK Wildcat fan, had a passion for his farm in Fleming County, and a personality that could light up a room. He loved taking cruises with his family and friends.
He is survived by the love of his life, wife of 61 years, Barbara Wallingford, his two children, Lisa (David) Hamm of Maysville and Darrin Wallingford of Lexington. He is also survived by his four grandchildren, Tyler (Victoria), and Austin Hamm of Maysville, and Eve Wallingford of Lexington and Andie Wallingford of Cincinnati. Other survivors are his sister, Ann Wallingford of Ossining, New York.
Preceding Leroy in death were his parents, Bruce and Edith Wallingford and his son Kevin Wallingford.
Funeral services for Leroy Wallingford will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday August 31 st , 2019, at the Seddon United Methodist Church with Pastor Elizabeth Smith officiating.
Burial will follow in the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Serving as pallbearers will be Tyler, Austin, and David Hamm, Larry Cord, Jimmy Haggard, and Marty Mastin. Honorary pallbearers are Darrin Wallingford, Eve and Andie Wallingford, Victoria Hamm, MacKenzie Mastin, and Kevin McRoberts.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., Friday August 30 th , 2019 at Seddon United Methodist Church.
Memorials are suggested to be made to charity of choice.
