Dale Lee Horner, Jr., 67, of Maysville, Kentucky passed away on Thursday, July 6, 2023 at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. He was the widower of Sharon Doris Morgan Horner who passed in 2020. Mr. Horner was a well-known attorney who had practiced Law in Maysville for over thirty seven years. He was currently involved with CASA where he was practicing in juvenile court as Guardian Ad Litem. Dale was an avid fan of the UK Wildcats, the Cincinnati Bengals and the Cincinnati Reds. He loved woodworking and golf.
He was a 1974 graduate of Mason County High School where he excelled in their baseball and basketball programs; a graduate of Morehead State University where he played baseball for the MSU Eagles and he was a graduate of UK J. David Rosenbury College of Law.
Dale was born in Maysville, Kentucky on November 26, 1955 the son of the late Dale Lee Horner, Sr. and Ellie Swisshelm McCormick.
He is survived by his three daughters, Carissa Dale Ray (Chris) of Cincinnati, OH, Katherine Suzanne Padgett (Ahren) of Louisville, KY and Morgan Merrill (Tim) of Oregon, WI; his two grandchildren, Reilly Jane Ray and Violet Katherine Ray; his sister, Vicki Asbury (Bill) of Aberdeen, OH; his two half-sisters, Melissa Delaney (Lee) of Lexington, KY and Michelle Hesler (Matt) of Maysville, KY; his step-father, James Roy McCormick of Aberdeen, OH and his step-mother, Diane Horner of Maysville, KY and his niece, Kelly Jo Asbury and her son Nathan of Cold Spring, KY and his two loving pets, Pete and Tempest.
A memorial service for Dale L. Horner, Jr. will be held at the Mason County Courthouse, 100 West Third Street, Maysville, KY at 4:30 PM, Monday, July 17, 2023 and is open to all family, friends, colleagues and public attendance. Memorials may be made to the Mason County Animal Shelter, 301 River Drive, Maysville, KY 41056 or to the Buffalo Trace CASA Program, Inc., PO Box 631, Maysville, KY 41056.
