Obituary

David Lawrence Collins, 80, passed away Saturday, May 18, 2024 at Meadowview Regional Hospital in Maysville, Kentucky. He was born in Robertson County on October 8, 1943 to the late Odie and Bessie Collins.

He was a devoted member of Maysville First Christian Church, where he served as an elder, board member and on various committees. He also was a forty seven year active member of the DeKalb Lodge #12, where he served as Noble Grand in 1986, was a Grand Patriot of the Grand Encampment of Kentucky and was Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Kentucky IOOF from 2013-2014.

He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge, Maysville Men's Club, Washington Lions Club, a Kentucky Colonel and in the U.S. Army Reserves for six years. He retired from Dayton Power and Light Company after 31 years of service and was an award-winning Electrical Technology teacher at Mason County Area Technology Center after his retirement from DP&L.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Carolyn Yazell Collins; two daughters, Melissa (John) Brooks of Maysville, KY; Kristie (Rodney) Woodrum of Georgetown, KY; his three grandchildren, Joshua (Brenda) Brooks of Lexington, KY, Caitlin Brooks of Louisville, KY, and Aubrey Woodrum of Georgetown, KY; and sister Linda Hord of Maysville, KY. He is preceded in death by his siblings, Bobby Collins, Richard Collins, Delores Henson and Susie Cooper.

His visitation will be held at First Christian Church Wednesday, May 22, 2024 from 4-7pm. Funeral services will be held at First Christian Church Thursday, May 23, 2024 at 11am. Oddfellows rites will take place at the end of the visitation service. A private interment service will be held at Green Acres Cemetery.

Pallbearers are John Brooks, Rodney Woodrum, Joshua Brooks, Tim Greifenkamp, Darin Greifenkamp, Jody Thacker and Jerry Qualls. Honorary pallbearers are Caitlin Brooks, Aubrey Woodrum, Lisa Thacker, Charlie Thomas, Johnny Walker, Kenny Pickrell and Dewey Applegate.

Memorials may be made to Maysville First Christian Church general fund. Arrangements are entrusted to the Knox and Brothers Funeral Hme. Condolences may be sent to KnoxBrothersFuneralHome.com/obits.
