Evelyn Tyler Gillespie Cropper, 89, of Maysville, Kentucky died Thursday, July 12, 2018 at her residence. She was the widow of Clarence Cropper. Evelyn was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church and where she also served as Sunday School Teacher. She was a graduate of the University of Kentucky (Bachelors) and Xavier University (Masters), a member of Limestone Chapter NSDAR, Paxton Inn Board, American Association of University Women, Nomad Book Club, Washington Study Club and United Methodist Women.

She served as librarian in the Forest Hills School District in Cincinnati, Ohio and returned to Maysville as Library Director of the Mason County Public Library, retiring in 2006. She was born in May's Lick, Kentucky the daughter of the late Dr. John E. and Mary B. Wood Gillespie

Survivors include her daughter, Mary Martha Cropper of Dayton, Kentucky; one sister, Mary G. Ward of May's Lick; four nephews and their families, Darrell T. Ward and James A. Ward (Lynn) of May's Lick; John Ward (Carol) of Oliver Springs, TN and Dr. Robert Ward (Danita) of Statesville, NC and her   special friends which include Joy Moran, Virginia Butler, James A. and Sue Grant and Mary Ethel Pyles.

Besides her husband and her parents, she was predeceased her son, Michael Cropper and two sisters, Vera and Elizabeth Gillespie.

Graveside services for Evelyn T. Cropper will be held at the May's Lick Cemetery at noon on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 with Rev. James Fant officiating. There will be no visitation prior to the services.
