Obituary

Maysville – Evelyn Hord Simms Wheeler, 89, of Maysville passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at the Hospice of Hope Care Center. Mrs. Wheeler was the widow of Forrest "Cap" Wheeler who passed away on April 6, 2021. The couple were married seventy years at his passing. She retired from Jockey International and also did private duty homecare and assisted with Federal Crop Insurance. She was a founding member of Victory Christian Church and attended the Stonelick Baptist Church.

Evelyn was born in Mason County Kentucky on April 28, 1933 the daughter of the late Leonard Mark Simms and Lula Hamm Simms. She is survived by four children, Bill Wheeler (Mary Alley), David Walter Wheeler (Goldie), Susan Wheeler McDowell (Mike) and Terri Wheeler Wilson (Carlos); thirteen grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; two son-in-laws, Mike Wilson and Eberhard Knierim and two siblings, William Thomas Simms and Bonnie Simms Applegate.

Besides her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Patricia Wheeler Wilson and Merry Beth Wheeler Knierim and her siblings, Elwood Simms, Wilbur Simms, Lillie Catherine Hull, Christine Fritts, Mary Wallingford, Loretta Manning, Anna Woodruff, Marilyn Bivens, Beverly Swimm and Irene Simms.

Funeral services for Evelyn Wheeler will be held at the Knox and Brothers Funeral Home at 1:00 PM Saturday, December 3, 2022 with Rev. Byron Mills and Rev. Tim Harpe officiating. Visitation will be held at the Knox and Brothers Funeral Home on Saturday from 11:30 AM until the hour of the service. Burial will be in the Olivet Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Travis Wheeler, Michael Wheeler, Jeremy Wheeler, Colton Simms, Jason Dye, Pat Dye and Zechariah Garcia. Condolences at knoxbrothersfuneralhome.com
