James Edward Russell, "Frog", 74, of Maysville Kentucky departed this earth Tuesday, May 26,  2026.  James was born on May 6, 1952, to the late Charles and Agatha Porter Russell.

James worked at Browning's for 39 plus years as a machine set-up operator. He was a member of the Orangeburg Methodist Church, Mason County Graduate class of 1970, Charter member of the Orangeburg Lions Club, Volunteer firefighter for many years, and proudly served in the  Army Reserves for 12 years. James was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, husband, and a friend to many. He never met a stranger. His favorite times were when the entire family were together laughing and playing cards or board games.

James is survived by his wife, Shirley, of 54 years, his children, Troy Russell, of Florence KY, Michelle Tanner, of Maysville, KY, and Jennifer (George) Roush of Maysville, KY; five grandchildren, Elizabeth Minton, Florence, KY, George Roush III, Emily (Sam) Roush, Madison Roush, and Nicholas Tanner, all of Maysville, KY; one sister, Linda (Philip) Stacy, one sister-in-law, Rosemary (J.D.) Varvell, and several nieces and nephews. During the last two years of his life, "his girls", Tina Brookbank, Kelly Bauer, Beth Magely, and Latisha Truesdell, at Davita Dialysis, spoiled him rotten and claimed a special place in his heart.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Troy and Nancy Pennington, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Joseph and Brenda Howard, and a nephew, Christopher Howard.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm Monday, June 1st at the Orangeburg Methodist Church with Pastors Johnny Sebastian and Adam Gulley officiating. Visitation will be at the church on Monday from 11:00am to 2:00pm. Burial will follow in the Charter Oak Cemetery in Aberdeen, Ohio.

Pallbearers will be George Roush III, Nicholas Tanner, Emily (Sam) Roush, Kevin Stacy, Wayne Howe, and Randy Gulley. Honorary pallbearers include Jim White, Madison Roush, and Elizabeth Minton.
