John Larry Dodge, 83, of Mayslick, Kentucky passed away on Friday, April 7, 2023 at the Pioneer Trace Nursing Home in Flemingsburg, Kentucky. Mr. Dodge was the widower of Geneva Mae Cole Dodge who passed in 2012. He was retired from farming and also retired after forty-eight years of service as the first Fire Chief of the Mayslick Volunteer Fire Department.

Mr. Dodge was a 1957 graduate of Mayslick High School, a Kentucky Colonel and served as Past President of Mason County Farm Bureau and also served on the Mason County Livestock Improvement Association and the Mason County Ethics Committee. John Larry Dodge was born in Mayslick, Kentucky on April 8, 1939 the son of the late John Davis Dodge and Opal Crockett Dodge.

He is survived by his son, Larry Davis Dodge (Elaine Hall) of Mayslick, KY; two granddaughters, Jenna Ray Dodge of Mayslick, KY and Laura Lee Dodge of Flemingsburg, KY and three great grandchildren, Cole Matthew Bonner, Elijah Paul Bradley and Annabelle Grace Dodge. Besides his wife and his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey Glenn Dodge.

Funeral services for John Larry Dodge will be held at the Mayslick Volunteer Fire Department Station at 1:00 PM Wednesday, April 12, 2023 with Rev. James Rawlings officiating. Burial will follow in the Mayslick Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jason Gifford, Joel L. Jolly, Gerald L. Woods, Joseph L. Collins, Lori B. Collins, John K. Jolly, Brent Prince and Kenton Comer. Honorary pallbearers will be Jesse W. Campbell, Michael Doyle, Everett M. Moran, William O. Rice, Aidan Klee, Thomas B. Prince, Tony J. Henson, Toni A. Henson and George Linville.

Visitation will be held at the Knox and Brothers Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM and also on Wednesday at the Mayslick Volunteer Fire Department Station from noon until the time of the service.
