John J Simpson 87 of Maysville, Kentucky died April 23, 2019 at Hospice in Lexington, KY. He was born in Philadelphia, PA July 11, 1931 to the late Helen D. Simpson. John was a member of First Baptist Church of Maysville, for over 30 years. He was retired from Browning/Emerson with over 35 years of service. John's first love was of his devoted wife and family. John was an avid UK basketball fan. He was a veteran, he attended the U.S. Army Leadership and Ranger Schools and served during the Korean War. He was a life member of the VFW, a Gideon, a Kentucky Colonel, an RSVP volunteer and a Member of the Mason County Genealogical Society. Survivors include his wife Gertrude Curtis Simpson, two Sons, Jack(Elizabeth) of Cleveland, Ohio Brian(Jennifer) of Pella, Iowa, two daughters Mary Ann Perkins (Denny) of Somerset, KY, Maureen Simpson Webb of Lexington, KY, one brother, Donald of Augusta, Ky. Nine grandchildren Drew and Brendan Simpson, Dalton and Brody Perkins, Ben and Breanne Webb , Will, Griffin and Emma Simpson. He was preceded in death by one sister, Helen Simpson
Services will be held at First Baptist Church at 11:30 AM Sat. April 27, 2019 with Rev. Tony Liess officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the hour of service. Burial will follow at Maysville Cemetery with military rites provided by the Simon Kenton VFW Post 2734.
Pallbearers will be Benjamin Webb, Drew Simpson, Dalton Perkins, Brendan Simpson, Will Simpson, Brody Perkins, Griffin Simpson. Honorary pallbearers will be Breanne Webb and Emma Simpson
In lieu of flowers donations to First Baptist Church, Hospice of Hope or to the Gideons International. The arrangements are entrusted to the Knox and Brothers Funeral Home. Condolences at knoxbrothersfuneralhome.com
