Kenneth Holmes Poole, 85, of Maysville, Kentucky passed away on Thursday morning, September 3, 2026 at the Meadowview Regional Medical Center. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio on November 13, 1940 the son of the late Wendell and Clairena Poole.
Kenneth was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. He loved the Lord with all his heart and was a devoted member of the seventh day adventist church. He proudly served his country as a veteran first training in artillery then training as a medic.
Kenneth enjoyed a remarkable 41 year career with Walgreens, where he earned the respect and affection of countless colleagues. He began his career as a draftsman, later moving into management, overseeing store openings and remodeling projects throughout the country. Over the years, he made many lifelong friends and was never shy about sharing his many funny stories with anyone who would listen. He was an avid fan of the Cincinnati Reds and Cincinnati Bengals and enjoyed a great ball game whenever possible.
Kenneth cherished his family and shared 31 years of marriage with the love of his life Eileen Musette Poole, whose loving devotion and care never wavered and were especially meaningful during the final years of his life.
Kenny shared a particularly close bond with his son, Byron. Through years of working and traveling together, they became not only father and son, but also best friends. Their devotion to each other was evident all of Kenny's life.
Kenny is survived by his four children; Byron Poole ( Heather) of Mt Sterling KY; Meredith Poole, of Mobile, Al; Dan Horn (Bridgett)of Dallas Texas; and Tricia Tate of Ft. Collins CO. He was a cherished grandfather to Luke, Isaac, Avery, and Lauren, Ryan, Megan, Preston, Grant, Kennedy, Jayden, Harlow, Liam, Abby, and Asher, and great grandfather to, Phoenix, Delilah and Maverick.
Kenny is also survived by his sister Ruth Armstrong of Crab Orchard KY. In addition to his parents, Wendell Holmes Poole and Clairena Gail Mougey Poole, he is preceded in death by his brothers Lowell and Kendell Poole and his sister Ann Thomas.
Funeral services for Kenneth Poole will be held at the Knox and Brothers Funeral Home at 1:00 PM Friday, September 11, 2026. Burial will follow in the Washington Baptist Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Byron Poole, Luke Poole, Isaac Poole, Jeff Devilbliss. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 11:00 AM until the hour of the service.
