Maysville – Lillie Lawrence Hughes, 91, of Maysville, Kentucky passed away Monday, July 17, 2023 at the Maysville Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility. Mrs. Hughes was the widow of the late Rev. Eugene Lawrence who passed in 1982 and the late Dallas Hughes who passed in 2002. Lillie was retired from Wald Manufacturing Company. She was a graduate of Orangeburg High School and was a member of the Central Baptist Church in Maysville.
Lillie was born in Maysville, Kentucky on June 18, 1932 the daughter of the late Alfred Littleton DeVaughn and Amy Mae Thomas DeVaughn.
She is survived by her four children, Rita (Ray) Young, Rhonda (David) Chasteen, David (Missy) Lawrence and Teresa (Tim) Hiles all of Maysville, KY; seven grandchildren, Russ (Becky) Young, Courtney (Jeremy) Hughes, Stuart (Whitley) Hiles, Rev. Andrew Young, Chase (Stephanie) Hiles, Madison Lawrence and Emily Wade; thirteen great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Besides her former husbands and her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Benjamin David Chasteen, her grandson-in-law, Thomas Alexander Wade and by her two brothers, C. R. DeVaughn and Harold Mason "Bud" DeVaughn; step-daughter, Shirley Josche; and her brother and sister-in-law, Rev. Riley Lawrence and Jean Lawrence.
Funeral services for Lillie Hughes will be held at the Central Baptist Church at noon on Friday, July 21, 2023 with Rev. Andrew Young officiating. Burial will follow in the Hillcrest Garden of Memories. Her grandchildren will serve as her pallbearers. Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday, July 20, 2023 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Memorials may be made to the Central Baptist Church, 437 Central Avenue, Maysville, KY or to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation at cff.org
