She was born in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, England on September 7, 1929, to Eric Gibson and Edith Blanche Brown Gibson. As a young woman, she met, fell in love, and married an American soldier, Nelson Anderson Browning, and followed him to her new country as a war bride. In 1963, Marian proudly became a U.S. citizen. With her husband in Maysville, Marian raised three daughters. After retirement, Marian and Nelson moved back to Kentucky and eventually to Maysville.
After her husband's death in 2003, Marian was a volunteer for RSVP for ten years and worked as a driver and cook for Licking Valley. Then she was both a volunteer and an employee of the Kentucky Gateway Museum Center for several years. She enjoyed researching the history of Maysville and collecting antiques, especially vintage jewelry. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. In 2016, Marian received a Citation from the House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Kentucky for her newspaper recounting of her story as a war bride. She was an avid reader and was writing her memoirs.
In the final months of her life, Marian received loving care from the nurses and staff of the Maysville Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility.
