Surrounded by family and friends, Mary Lou Robinson-Griffey, 60, joined the heavenly choir on Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at the Hospice of Hope Care Center after an 11 1/2 month battle with brain cancer. She was the youngest daughter of the late Russell and Helen McRoberts Robinson and was born April 27, 1964 and raised in Maysville, KY. She graduated from Mason County, attended Georgetown College and graduated from Maysville Community College.

Mary began working as a legal secretary in Lexington, KY and then continued following a family move back to Maysville at Fox, Wood, Wood, and Estill. She then began working at the Family Resource Center for Straub Elementary, eventually becoming its coordinator. She completed her career working for the National Family Support Network.

Mary's proudest accomplishment was being a Mom to two children, Russ (Robin Crail) Middleton of Cincinnati, OH and Erienne (Devan) Doty of Maysville, KY as well as being a Nanny to her grandchildren, James Russell and Delaney Doty and Reign Alexander Middleton, Aunt Mary to her nieces and nephews as well as a MiMi to her great nieces and nephews.

She loved music and shared her beautiful voice internationally while singing with the King's Kids, Mason County Concert Choir, Georgetown College Choir, 4 Heaven's Sake, Voice of Praise, the Robinson Sisters and the Central Baptist Church Worship Team and Church Choir where she was an active and much loved member.

Besides her children and grandchildren, Mary is survived by her husband of 11 years, Derek Griffey (Maysville), daughter, Caitlin Courtner (Frankfort, KY), sister, Connie (Wesley) Shemwell (Madison, WI), brother, Larry (Michelle) Robinson (Raymore, MO), Judy (Jim) Gallenstein (Maysville) as well and in-laws, Judith and Jim Thornton (Frankfort, KY), and Ron and Kandy Gilkerson (Lexington, KY) and a host of aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews of whom she loved dearly.

A Life Celebration Service will be held at Central Baptist Church, 437 Central Avenue, Maysville on Monday, November 18, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held at the church on Sunday from 5-8:00 p.m. A private interment will be held at the Maysville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be the men of the Central Baptist Church Choir, David Chasteen, Lew Cook, Jim Gallenstein, Dale 'Dutch' Liles, Randy Mason, Daniel Scilley and Mike Stanley.
