Mary Sue
Rosser
Oct 11, 1944 — Jan 6, 2024
Dover
Mary Sue (Cooper) Rosser was born on October 11, 1944 in Maysville Kentucky as first daughter to parents, Freeman Floyd Cooper and Dessie Lee (Trimble) Cooper. She graduated Mason County High School in Maysville, Kentucky. She worked as a candy striper at Hayswood Hospital initially and then went on to being secretary at Mason County High School for a time. She worked at Western Union in downtown Maysville with her sister-n-law Betty Rosser and was working there when she got the call that a tornado had hit Dover.
At the time she had a son, Jimmy and a daughter Lynea, who were at home in Dover. She always counted the tornado a curse and a blessing as it destroyed the tiny house they were living in and allowed them to build a newer home in the same place, (a prayer she had prayed many times). She learned early to pray in earnest and in expectation.
Mary Sue had a heart as big as one could find, as was witnessed by countless people in her life. She gave of her time and resources, opened her home to many, including Timothy McGowan who she raised from an infant. She had a sense of humor and laugh, up till she could not communicate, that warmed your heart and soul.
She is survived by her son, James D Rosser, Jr, (Jimmy) of Dover and daughter, Susan Lynea (Rosser) Cameron, also in Dover, her sister, Geraldine Cooper of Aberdeen, her granddaughter Amy Cameron and husband Catarino Cantu, god-grandson Caleb McGowan, along with sister-n-law Sue Faris of Ripley, cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband James D Rosser Sr, her parents, a half-brother, and more.
Funeral services for Mary Sue Rosser will be held at the Knox and Brothers Funeral Home at 1:00 PM Wednesday, January 10, 2024 with Rev. Greg Rosser officiating. Burial will follow in the Rosemont Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 11:00 AM until the hour of the service. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Hope, 909 Kenton Station Drive, Maysville, KY 41056. Condolences at knoxbrothersfuneralhome.com
