Nathaniel W. "Jock" Peters, 94, of Ripley, Ohio died Thursday, June 11, 2020 at home. Mr. Peters was the widower of Mary Elizabeth Lytle Peters who died in 1989. He was formerly associated with the Carnation Milk Company and later retired from Browning's-Emerson Power Transmission. Nathaniel was a veteran of World War II, having served his country as a US Marine from 1943 to 1946. He trained at Montfort Point at Camp Lejeune to serve in one of the first Black Marines Units. Nathaniel served in the Pacific Theater and during the occupation of Japan. He was born in Orangeburg, Kentucky on September 3, 1925 the son of the late Walter "Pete" Peters and Lucy Beatrice Griffey Lightfoot. Jock was an incredibly young ninety-four year old. He is survived by his son, Clarence "Skip" Peters (Crystal) of Ripley, OH; his daughter, Kathy Peters Warner of Maysville, KY; grandchildren, Brandi Dudley and Justin Warner and great grandchildren, Te'a Dudley, Tee Dudley and Kayson Morales Warner and his special friend, Jeanie Sroufe of Ripley, OH. Besides his wife and his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Brad Henry Peters and George Wayne Peters, his grandson, Myles Tison Dudley and one brother and three sisters. A public graveside service for Nathaniel "Jock" Peters will be held at the Washington Baptist Cemetery at 2:30 PM Sunday, June 14, 2020 with Rev. James Settles officiating. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Hope, 909 Kenton Station Rd, Maysville, KY 41056 or to Simon Kenton VFW Post, 3177 AA HWY, Maysville, KY 41056.
