Opal Lee Smith Greene was born in Maysville, KY on September 20,1930 the daughter of the late Robert Lee Smith Sr and Goldie Stewart Smith and she departed this life on Nov 23, 2023.
Opal was a loving devoted mother, grandmother, sister and aunt and she loved being around her family. She was a member of Scott United Methodist Church. She was an avid bingo and card player.
Opal leaves to cherish and honor her memory sons James W. Greene Jr. of Chilocothe, OH and Melvin Greene of Maysville, KY; daughters Margie (Alex) Darnes of Riverview, FL, Vivian (Fred) Walker of Lexington KY and Thelma (William) Peck of Knoxville, TN. Brothers Marvin Smith and Arvin Smith both of Greenville, NC; 11 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband James W. Greene Sr, sons Larry, Donald and Ronnie Greene; grandsons Jonathan and Inden Greene; granddaughter Tamika Darnes; brothers Robert Lee Smith Jr., William Smith, David Smith, Charles Smith; sisters Vivian Taft, Rannie Jackson, Nadine Myrick and Judith Lofton.
Services for Opal Greene will be held at the Scott United Methodist Church at 1:00 pm, Saturday, December 2, 2023 with visitation beginning at 11:00 am until the hour of the service. Pastor Claude Commodore officiating. Burial to follow at the Green Acres Cemetery.
