Patsy Mae Reiss, 98, widow of Royce Hampton Reiss, died August 10, 2022 in Sandy Spring, Md.

Mrs. Reiss was born on Oct 22, 1923, in Spencer, West Virginia, to the late Edwin Kenner and Lena Board Newell.

She was a graduate of Maysville High School, Eastern Kentucky University (Chemistry), and attended Graduate school at University of Kentucky (Chemistry).

She was active in volunteer work all her life – in church, library, Scouts, schools, a substitute teacher as needed, civic organizations and arts and crafts of all kinds. She was active in the Methodist Church participating in the choir, taught adult Sunday school for over 40 years, and various offices in local, district, and conference for church, Methodist Women's groups and interfaith women's groups. While at Brooke Grove assisted living, she was active in the knitting group creating knitted blankets and other items for the Wounded Warrior project.

Survivors include one son Royce H. (Carolyn Brenneman) Reiss Jr. of Brookeville, Md., daughter-in-law Donna Zebrowski Reiss of Brandon, Miss.; four grandchildren, Royce H. (Angelly Shahani) Reiss III of Jersey City, NJ, Patricia Reiss (Greg Walker) of Jackson,Miss, Amanda (Jayson) Buterbaugh of Damascus, Md., Ronald (Beth) Reiss of Brandon; and five great-grandchildren, Khaleesi Mae Shahani Reiss, Joshua Ayden Buterbaugh, Jordon Ayren Buterbaugh, John Hampton Reiss, and Evie Mae Reiss; one sister, Charlotte Lander, and  many special nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Reiss was preceded in death by a son John Raymond Reiss; sister Susanna Disney: brothers Edwin K. Jr and Joe Powell Newell; sister-in-laws Mary Powell Newell and Wanda "Vic" Newell; and bother-in-laws W. Edward Lander, Oscar Disney, and James Mackenzie.

Funeral services for Patsy Reiss will be held at the Trinity United Methodist Church at 11:00 AM Monday, August 15, 2022 with Rev. Eric Patterson officiating. Burial will follow in the Maysville Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 AM until the hour of the service. Arrangements are entrusted to the Knox and Brothers Funeral Home.
