Phyllis Jeanette Hester of Maysville, KY died peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, October 8, 2019 at Bluegrass Hospice Care Center; UK Hospital in Lexington, KY.

She was born April 7, 1937 in Epworth, KY. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who raised her family with a tireless and unconditional zeal. She was a modest homemaker who enjoyed gardening, canning, baking, sewing and knitting. She loved to sing and play the piano and was a faithful member of the Maysville Church of Christ for over fifty years. Phyllis was immensely proud of her family and leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories.

She is survived by her two sons, Mark (Mary Beth) and granddaughter Carrie of Lexington and Jeryl Hester, also of Lexington; two sisters, Judy (Jerry) Meranda of Batavia, OH and Jewell Himes of Mesa, AZ; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband of over fifty years, Lowell Dean Hester; her parents, James H. and Zella Cropper Elliott of Epworth; sisters, Imogene Applegate, Muzetta Claypool, Nina Mullikin and Gayle Yingst and brothers Warren Elliott, Clyde Elliott, Dean Elliott, Joe Elliott and Jim Elliott.

Funeral services for Phyllis Hester will be held at the Knox and Brothers Funeral Home at 1:00 PM Friday, October 11, 2019 with Rev. David Waggoner officiating. Burial will follow in the Green Acres Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 11:00 AM until the hour of the service.
