Rosemary Cooley Buchanan, 72, of Maysville, Kentucky passed away peacefully at her residence on Wednesday, September 13, 2023. Rosemary was born in Lewis County, Kentucky on December 22, 1950 the daughter of the late Harlan and Alice Colemire Cooley. Mrs. Buchanan formerly worked at Jockey International and then at Dravo Lime Company. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and a lifetime member of the Simon Kenton VFW Auxiliary. Rosemary was proud to be the first female dynamite blaster at Dravo Lime Company.
She is survived by her lovingly husband of 40 years, Larry Thomas Buchanan; one daughter, Tonya Rayburn Hehner (Keith) and one son, Todd Eugene Rayburn both of Maysville; three step children, Paula Buchanan Smith ( fiancé, William "Bill" Gollob) of Lemore, CA, Gregory Buchanan and Tina Buchanan both of Maysville; eight grandchildren, Seth Sweet, Kristian Bellamy, Joseph Lambert, John David Smith, Brinley Smith, Jacob Conley, Hayden Fogleman and Aubrie Fogleman; six great grandchildren, Levi Sweet, Luke Sweet, Landon Sweet, Penelope Lambert, Oliver Lambert and Emerson Lambert; two sisters, Barb Cooley Brierly (Eddie) and Frances Cooley Browning and numerous nieces, nephews and special friends who will sadly miss her.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Kenny Cooley; her brother-in-law, Azro "Junior" Browning, her niece, Lisa Mason Gallenstein and one special nephew, Ricky Harlan Henderson.
Funeral services for Rosemary Buchanan will be held at the Knox and Brothers Funeral Home at 1:00 PM Monday, September 18, 2023 with Pastor Chad Current officiating. Burial will follow in the Hillcrest Garden of Memories. Pallbearers will be Larry T. Buchanan, Gregory Buchanan, Jacob Conley, Todd Rayburn, Keith Hehner, Seth Sweet and Levi Sweet. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 11:00 AM until the hour of the service. Memorials may be made to UC Hospital, 3188 Bellevue Avenue, Cincinnati, OH 45219.
