Maysville – Verneda "Cathy" Grey, 86, of Maysville, Kentucky passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 12, 2026 under the care of Hospice of Hope at the Ohio Valley Manor Care Community. Cathy graduated from Fleming County High School in 1958. She was employed by the US Shoe Factory in Ripley, Ohio for over twenty-two years until their closure, then she worked for Jockey and later went to work at Big Lots until her retirement.
She was born in Wallingford, Kentucky on July 29, 1940 the daughter of the late Richard Curtis Lee and Carrie Doyle Lee DeVaughn.
She is survived by Johnie Grey, her loving husband of forty-one years; three children, Stephen Troy Werline (Missy) of Augusta, KY, Gregory Trent Werline (Jeff) of Fort Myers, FL and Kristi Werline Teegarden (Jimmy) of Maysville KY; one step-daughter, Nicole Grey Kelley of Port Charlotte, FL; nine grandchildren, Stephen "Mac" Werline, Brooke Werline, Kirsten Teegarden Parson (Mason), Lariah Werline-Mack, all of Maysville, Shayna Werline of Augusta, Danielle Smith-Lewis (Josh) of Weaverville, NC, Lindsey Werline Landsaw (Clay) of Flemingsburg, Zachary Jones of Tennessee and Garrett Kelley (Stephanie) of North Port, FL; one sister, Linda Lee Purcell (Jeff Miller) of Wallingford, KY; eighteen great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews whom she loved.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Terry Lee Werline.
Funeral services for Cathy Grey will be held at the Knox and Brothers Funeral Home at 11:30 AM Saturday, August 15, 2026 with Pastor Debbie Horn officiating. Burial will follow in the Maysville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Stephen "Mac" Werline, Conner Werline, Clay Landsaw, Mason Parson, Todd Helton, Josh Lewis, Jeffery Lowery and Cole Lewis. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 9:30 AM until the time of the service.
